Thomas Lemar Fear Reportedly Held by Gunners, Top Rumours — Arsenal Transfer News

The Ligue 1 champions have already lost Bernardo Silva to Manchester City and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea while Benjamin Mendy is also close to joining City so the French outfit are determined not to see their squad ripped apart any further.

Arsenal reportedly believe they could miss out on Thomas Lemar's capture if Monaco draw a line in the sand regarding player sales this summer.

The Gunners have made a 45 million pound bid for Lemar, which, according to GFFN, was completely ignored by Monaco as it was deemed a waste of time.

What's more, the difficulty they face in convincing Monaco to part with Lemar could make replacing him all the more tricky, making the need to keep the Chilean even more pressing.

Don't you just love the transfer rumour mill, the way that just one little comment from an Arsenal groundman or an inconsequential journalist can spark a feeding frenzy amongst the fans.

An official announcement is expected when Arsenal return from their tour of Australia and China: Monaco have asked Arsenal to wait - with medicals, official pictures and his presentation to be delayed until they find a replacement for the French youngster.

"We are of the belief that logically the plan is [getting more] playing time, which is what he has at Monaco".

Arsenal's summer recruits so far are France striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a club record £46.5m and the free transfer of left-back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke.

Lemar has been heavily linked with a move to The Emirates in recent weeks but the Gunners have not been able to officially confirm a deal for the France international.

"Overall I think it is a huge advantage".
