Pochettino forgives Rose for Spurs' 'Google' jibe

"The England global had said he had "one big contract left" and time is running out to win trophies".

Rose broke ranks this week in an explosive interview in which he said he is worth more than Tottenham are paying him and would consider an offer from another club.

He went on to implore Spurs to sign "well-known" players and, relating to his contractual situation, added: "I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth".

"Everybody was praising the talent of this squad, the understanding between players, young players".

Pochettino said that he has accepted Rose's apology and he reiterated that the club would sign players before the close of the transfer window.

"When we signed players like Eric Dier, nobody knew, or Dele Alli who was playing in League One".

"I don't think it's a matter to joke about because with some of the worldwide players, maybe one or two years ago, none of us knew them very well".

Rose apologised for his comments on Friday and Pochettino has sought to move on, forgiving the England full-back, but the club's failure to sign a player this summer while letting Kyle Walker join Manchester City has raised doubts over their ability to compete for the title.

"Also, when I first arrived here, people wanted to know who Mauricio Pochettino too".

Sportsmail columnist and ex-England worldwide Jamie Redknapp has claimed Tottenham can be strong title challengers this season despite having yet to make new recruitments.

'Danny Rose is a fantastic player but he has been mishandled, whoever has advised him to do that is ridiculous.

"Not just because they will be better, but we need bodies, you have to be sure that you have enough quality to keep the level".

And while he accepts players want to move, he says Rose has shown a lack of respect towards his employers.

"I think the team are very united. When you see the team so relaxed, calm and focused for the game on Sunday, I feel how can I be nervous?"

Tottenham have yet to recruit any players this summer but Pochettino reassured fans there will be new arrivals. You [the press] have access to the other players so you can ask them.
